On June 28 The Arc Wisconsin along with other disability and aging organizations coordinated an informational session on Medicaid and the healthcare bills being discussed in Washington, DC that would cap Medicaid funding to states. Assembly Aging and Long-Term Care Committee Chair Representative Tom Weatherston-R and ranking member Representative Beth Meyers-D served as event sponsors. The Arc Wisconsin’s Lisa Pugh served as an expert speaker, while The Arc Fond du Lac’s Executive Director David Boelter was a panelist sharing a provider perspective.
Key themes:
- Both the AHCA (House bill) and BCRA (Senate bill) include significant reductions in federal Medicaid funding to states.
- Wisconsin would need to find additional resources to make up for losses in federal funding in order to maintain Medicaid programs and services.
